Finding Fatimah tells the story of divorcee Shahid (Danny Ashok) as he searches online dating website ‘Single Muslim’ for a new girlfriend. Things are looking bleak until he discovers Fatimah Miah (Asmara Gabrielle) a doctor who has been having some of her own relationship issues.
The film, is like that friend everyone likes but isn’t even remotely funny and doesn’t add anything to any conversation. It’s a comedy, and the jokes are drastically poor, awfully corny and really it just isn’t funny at all.
Danny Ashok’s character is a stand up comedian and even the audience on screen don’t find him funny. It’s such a weak script from the comedy side of things. Oz Arshad has clearly put a lot of work into creating his film, it just does not work.
This is a great platform for British Muslims and really is an untapped area of British culture. Finding Fatimah albeit has an odd charm, but it needed a lot more refining and a fair bit of organising.
