Every (Pretty Much) Film From 2017 Ranked: 193-151

On a fateful day in late 2016, I forgot my keys. I only realised they were locked inside my flat as I was walking past the local Odeon, and made the brave decision to see a film on my own. This was an idea that had completely escaped me prior to watching Doctor Strange, but one that I found far less embarrassing than it had first seemed. Soon I would understand that there is very little quality reasoning against going to the cinema alone, especially considering nobody is meant to be talking during the film anyway.

This sparked something within me, because the next time I forgot my keys in the early days of January 2017, I headed straight to the cinema, this time to see Silence; the film that would re-start my film site, Film Phor Thought, and one that would lead me to watch 193 brand new films across the 12 months of 2017.

Over the last year, I have begun to understand cinema more than I could ever have imagined, and that doesn’t just go for the films on the screen. The way cinemas are run up and down the country is fascinating as it becomes clear what is at the heart of what each franchise does.

Through the next week, I will count down from number 193 to my favourite film of last year, with close detail on the top 50. I will also share some tips and facts on the last year, and why I am carrying on this massively time-consuming task through 2018.

I thank everyone who has taken a moment to read some of my reviews, however violently you disagree with my opinions, but to me, that is the true meaning of film. I have seen so much crap over the last year, and I wouldn’t change a moment of it. So here are my worst films of 2017. 193-151:
